Nanny Army Set Up For Essential Service Workers

Dream Childcare, one of New Zealand’s largest home-based childcare agencies, today launched a Nanny Army to assist parents who are providing essential services solve their childcare issues during COVID-19.

“Dream Nanny Army has been set up to provide a home-based childcare solution using workers from industries such as hospitality and tourism who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19, many of whom have valuable childcare experience,” said Dream CEO, Tanya Burrage.

Tanya Burrage said parents who work in essential services need peace of mind that while they are working to help New Zealand, their children are being cared for in a safe and trusted environment.

“We are being inundated with calls from parents needing urgent home-based childcare to enable them to continue to provide essential services. The Government has advised that families need to have these arrangements in place by Wednesday night.

“Thousands of workers who have been impacted by COVID-19 are likely to have the required skills and expertise to look after children and we’ve received many calls from these workers seeking employment.

“Our opportunity is to match these workers with families who need urgent help, so we’re not only increasing our in-home childcare capacity we’re delivering meaningful solutions to New Zealand families and creating employment opportunities at a time we all need it most,” she said.

While families will be required to pay childcare costs on an hourly rate basis, Dream Nanny Army will be waiving the placement fee and reducing their rates to ensure families who need help can utilise this service.
